The Font of Eternal Frustration

Had one of those days where I sit down at my computer hoping to tinker with it to do something interesting but then I can’t get it to work, despite over an hour of shaving yaks. So I say fuck it, and pick a different task that won’t be as difficult, and after an hour and 3 more bald yaks, that doesn’t work either. Rinse and repeat 2 more times.

I don’t know what I’m doing

A key in many of my problems of late has been fonts. First there was poor rendering of webfonts. Then there was font-awesome not displaying correctly. Then there was a bitmap font failing to work.

A few chinks of light

After installing another icon font from Nerd Fonts I think I might finally be ok, but I don’t want to count my chickens just yet.

What I am willing to claim as a minor victory is deciding to run mopidy under my user account instead of as a service thus removing any pulseaudio permission problems I was having. I have it launching in my startup script, I’m sure it’ll be fine. Now I can use ncmpcpp (stupid name) to play music like the old days and maybe even connect it to spotify.

Now I just need Oxbow Luke and Psycho Squid to re-write identicurse to work with the Mastodon api.
